Chimney repair in Baltimore

Stop the leak
at the chimney.

Flashing, crowns, caps, and worn mortar. We find where the water gets in and fix that. Text me a photo and I'll tell you what I see.

I'm James. I've worked on roofs and chimneys here for 24+ years, and we've done thousands of jobs across Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

Chimney problems we fix

Leaking flashing

Where the chimney meets the roof is the most common leak spot. See chimney flashing repair.

Cracked crowns and loose brick

A cracked crown lets water into the brick. When the brick above the roof is too far gone, we rebuild it from the roofline up. See crown repair and rebuild.

Missing or damaged caps

A cap keeps rain and animals out of the chimney. See chimney cap installation.

Worn mortar

We repoint washed out mortar joints so the brick stops soaking up water.

Not sure what's leaking? Read why a chimney leaks when it rains. For brick or stone work that isn't a chimney, see masonry services. If the leak could be the roof, see roof repair.

When a roof can't be climbed safely, I check the chimney with a drone. I'm an FAA-licensed drone pilot.

Questions homeowners ask

Who fixes a leaking chimney, a roofer or a chimney sweep?

For the flashing, crown, cap, and brick on the outside, a roofer who does masonry. For the inside of the chimney, a chimney sweep.

Can a leaking chimney be fixed without rebuilding it?

Usually, yes. Most chimney leaks come from the flashing, the crown, or the cap. A rebuild is only needed when the brick above the roof is loose or falling apart.

How do I know which part of my chimney is leaking?

Water on the ceiling next to the chimney usually points to the flashing. Water in the fireplace usually points to the cap or the crown. See why a chimney leaks when it rains.

Do you install chimney caps?

Yes. A cap keeps rain and animals out of the chimney.
